UK-Japan 21st Century Group | 34th Conference

The 34th annual meeting of the UK-Japan 21st Century Group convened in the UK on September 7–10, 2017, in London and Cambridge. The Japanese delegation began its visit in London with a courtesy call on Prime Minister Theresa May and a reception and lunch discussion hosted by the Japan Society and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the UK. The group—comprised of politicians, journalists, businesspeople, and scholars—then moved to Cambridge, where they held in-depth discussions on a broad range of issues, including the latest political and economic developments in each country, global institutions and the rule of law, the implications of Brexit for UK-Japan trade and investment, defense and security issues, higher education, and the opportunities presented by the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for UK-Japan collaboration.
